Mini Cake in a Box

Hi friends,
Today I have a mini cake box I created for the Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge. I've been following their blog for
the past few weeks, but haven't had a chance to play. Basically, they choose a movie & you create a card inspired by something in the movie- music, characters, dialogue, costumes, etc. (So fun & totally my thing!) This week the challenge was to make a birthday card based on this movie:
Sixteen Candles

Totally 80's right! If you've visited my blog for even 5 minutes, you know that's not such a departure for me! Hey, I was a tween/early teen in the 80's so I have fond memories, OK! Anyhoo, here's my card/project:

I call it: Mini-Cake in a Box (for Sixteen Candles)

Here's the box closed:

Open:
The inside lid is where I would write my birthday message. I would add a piece of acetate, but I didn't do that so it wouldn't glare & distort the cake inside. (see, I'm learning :)
I also added a removable glue dot to keep it closed.

Closer Peek: (the cake is glittery)

Let's bring that cake out! Yup, it does come out :)

I used bright 80's colors (you should see this IRL!) Bright fuschia, lime green, hot pink- ya see. Sunglasses a must! (hee! hee!) I made the cake box from the Sizzix Shaker Box Die. The cake was made from 2 circles & a little strip to go around. I added a little flower, button, & # stickers. It came together speedy quick.

Ooh, I don't know what it is, but I feel something coming on. -cough, cough, sneeze- Hmmm... it must be a ---> tutorial! Tut Tut Tut Tut!!! After all, it's much easier for me to show you than tell you about it right? ;) Don't worry if you don't have this die- you know I'll hook you up!

Thanks so much for peekin' at my Sixteen Candles inspiration project & I hope you like it. BTW, a couple of weeks ago the movie was Pirates of the Caribbean, which you know my boyfriend Johnny (swoon) stars handsomely in. I created a card, but didn't get a chance to post it, so I'll share that one with you sometime soon. I'm off to get your tut ready---gotta go!
