Tags of 2013-May

Hi friends,
I'm back to share my tag for this month.
Here's Tim's tag:

Here's mine:
I didn't have the Mona Lisa stamp so I used this one I had. The technique this month was using his remnant rubs but I don't really like using rub-ons so I don't really have much. After digging through my stash, I came upon some fun stitches. Those are the ones that frame the tag. There are 3 different types of stitches on the tag: running, zig zag, & whip stitch. Then I used my Distress Stains in Wild Honey, Broken China, Bundled Sage, & Fired Brick. (Although Wild Honey & Fired Brick seemed to overtake the others :(

Here's a closer peek:
I added a foliage flower to her hair, a strip of filmstrip, & last- the word band. Embracing imperfection is hard to do but something that I find myself having to do all the time. Mainly because I've learned to just let things go.
I really wish more of the blues & greens would have come across on my tag, but it is what it is & I'll embrace imperfection *Ü*

That's it for now. Thanks for peeking!

Sew Cute!

Hi friends,
I've been sick with the flu since my Summer vacation started- which is just my luck! Ahhh well, at least I didn't have to take any sick days since I was already at home...

Today, I have a card I started before I flu'ed out.
Here it is:
It was love at first sight with this little PI! Finally, I get a chance to play with her. She's Cute as a Button from MFT. I paper pieced her little clothes & even the flower in her hair.

Here's a closer peek:
She's colored with Copics. Barbara Anders created a really fantastic tutorial on paper piecing. Mine is pretty basic. The one thing I added was shading to the clothes with my W3 Copic marker (tip from the tute) and wow! did that give it a boost! I added some Glossy Accents to her shoes & the jar. Then I added some little pearls to her little flowers & I even gave her some pearl earrings *Ü* I used the Fishtail Flags Dienamics for the strip that goes across & embossed it with the CB Ruler border. The buttons are from the Button Border Dienamics. (Luv it!) The papers are from the He Said, She Said collection from Teresa Collins.

I used this week's MFT sketch:
You can find Barbara Anders' A+ tutorial on paper piecing---> HERE.

I'm feeling so much better after taking my Grammy's special ginger tea. I seriously should bottle it & be a gazillionaire!!! Then I could buy aaaaaaaallll the craft stuff my heart desired *Ü*  (The hubby argues I already do!  -_-   (smh---> shaking my head, shaking my head...)

Thanks for peeking today!

May PTI Blog Hop

Hello friends,
Today, I'm participating in this month's:
The challenge was to chose a color/bouquet builder pic & create floral bouquet creation inspired by it.
Here's the color scheme I chose:
 Here's my card:
I pulled out the Friendship Jars: Spring Fillers bouquet & colored it with Copics. I used the bow from the Friendship Jars: Summer Fillers & popped it on top.

Here's a closer peek:
The background layer is embossed in the Foulard Anna Griffin folder. Then I framed it with my Viva pen & sprinkled a few matching sequins.

It was really hard to choose just one, but I liked the fun, bright colors of this bouquet builder. I definitely will be using some of the others builders for future cards since one thing I struggle with are fresh color combos. Now I have lots to choose from *Ü*

Thanks so much for popping in today!

HB2U

Hi ya friends,
I'm freeeeeee! Today is the first day of Summer vacation. Sadly, it will be a Staycation this year because my only destination is tuitionville--- paying for my son's college tuition :( Yes, I know it's all good :) but tomorrow we're off to see the new Fast & the Furious movie! Hope it's good!
Today, I have a quick card I made for my friend's birthday.
Here it is:
I let the papers do the heavy lifting for this card. They're from MME -On the Bright Side. The sentiment comes from MFT's Birthday Sentiments stamp set. Then I sprinkled some butterflies & a swirl to finish off the card.

I used this week's sketch at the Sweet Stop:
So what's a girl to do on her first day of vacation??? Laundry and cleaning the house of course :( I may not be a teacher for the next two months, but I'm still a mom of boys  -_-  and there's never a vacation from that!

Rockin' Birthday Boy

Hi ya friends,
The countdown is officially on! Wednesday is my last day of work & then I start a much anticipated Summer vacation! Yaaaay! Although, I had a rather good schedule this year & my classes were generally pretty good, I'm ready to go! It's time to recharge the batteries *Ü*
Today, I'm sharing a card my Grammy asked me to make for a boy's birthday.
Here it is:
I used lots of papers from the Just Chillin' collection from Making Memories then went to town distressing it! The flaming guitar is from MFT Accent It: Rock & Roll Dienamics and the stars are from the Stacking Stars Dienamics. I added Glossy Accents to the guitar to give it that slick guitar surface. I also used the Fishtail Flags Dienamics. The white panel is embossed with the woodgrain folder but it's hard to tell in this pic.
I just won a $75 Gift certificate from MFT during their last release which I'm still pinching myself about! I was one over-the-moon happy little crafter let me tell ya! I usually choose very carefully  because with MFT, it's easy to want EVERYTHING! So with this generous gift certificate I was able to splurge a bit *Ü*

Here's a peek of the innies:
The sentiment comes from one of my favorite MFT stamp sets called Birthday Sentiments.

I used this week's MFT sketch:
This one was a toughie for me!

Well, that's it for now.
Thanks so much for peeking today!

Birthday tunes

Hi friends,
I have a card I made for my uncle's birthday. He is one of the funniest people I know & it's always fun being around him!
Here it is:
I used MFT's cassette tape dienamics- super fun die---> very realistic! I remember making mixed tapes & recording songs off the radio making sure to press the "stop" button right before the radio ID came on! haha! Ahhh...good times *Ü*
The sentiment is from the Just my Type stamp set(also from MFT.)

Here's a peek of the innies:
(You're not old...You're vintage) I think he'll giggle at that!

I used this week's MFT sketch:
That's it for now!

The Orchid Show

Hello friends,
To all the mommies & those who are like moms to those in need of one, I wish you a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
Since I am a Latina, I get to celebrate mom's day TWICE. Many countries in Latin America celebrate Mother's Day on May 10th---> and so do I! Annnnd... I also celebrate it on the 2nd Sunday in May *Ü* One of my sons takes care of one and my other son takes care of the other. I always thought it was a good idea to have 2 sons *Ü* hehehe. Well, on May 10th, I got a Big Bang Theory poster. Don't know where I'll put Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, & Raj yet... can't wait to see what I get on Sunday! Hope it's a "Bazinga" T-shirt :) I've been dropping hints about it :)

Today, I'm sharing two cards I made for my Grammy. The first is her birthday card.
Here it is:
Grammy & I L-U-V orchids, so that's what I made for her. These beauties are from Flourishes. I stamped them on Shimmer white cardstock & heat embossed in gold.

Here's a peek at that.

I fussy cut around them so I could pop them up.
I scattered a few gold sequins & sprinkled a few gold pearls with my Viva pen.

The next card is for Mother's Day.
Here it is:
Again, I used Shimmer white cardstock. The orchids came from the "Orchid" Cheery Lynn die. Luuuv!
Here's a closer peek at them:
These were easy to create (unlike some other orchids I've tried in the past). I inked the middles in Cameo Coral. I also added a little Flower Soft for the soil. (Yes, that's an Anna folder :)

Here's a side peek:

This is a GREAT die. I know I'll be making more in lots of colors *Ü*!

I used this week's Sweet Stop sketch: (rotated)

I'll also play along in the following challenges:
Cheery Lynn Designs: Lots of Layers
Our Creative Corner: Anything Goes
Chocolate, Coffee, & Cards: Mother's Day
Cut it Up: Mother's Day
Paper Crafting Journey: Anything Goes
Divas by Design: Anything Goes
Celebrate the Occasion: Mother's Day

I've got 1 1/2 weeks of school left! Yaaaay!!! but that also means it is the busiest time of the year. So it might be a bit quiet on the blog front for a while.

Thanks so much for peeking today!
Have a goodie!
