The Great Outdoors Book

Hi friends,
Today, I wanted to share a really cool accordion panel book. I picked up (along with a matching book) at the Scrapbook Expo from the Pine Cone Press Booth (yes, a few months ago :(  Over the weekend, I finally completed it! It has a real rustic feel to it :) and when I saw it, I thought it would be *perfect* for all our Big Bear pics. We go every year & have lots of pics to fill it with.
Here's the cover:
(I'm going to apologize ahead of time, but lighting was wonky & this is a looooong book to photograph! It's over 3 feet long)

Then it accordion outs like this:
There are 8 panels to this book & each panel is embellished. Each panel is bound together with twine for an added rustic feel.
Here are the first 2 panels:
The brown mat on the 2nd panel serves as a mat & is also a pocket.

Here are the next 4 panels:
The parts that look like tree bark are made with corrugated cardboard. Lots of mats for pics :)

Last few:

Here's a few deets on a couple of the panels:
This is a pocket page (with tag).
This one holds a couple of tags.

Each panel is also a pocket page in itself that conceals a place to tuck in another big tag for more pics and journaling!

and finally here's the back---> uh huh, more room for pics! luuuv it!
This is one of my fav books. It took a long time to make, but I luuuv how it turned out! Now, to get going on the matching book :{
Thanks so much for peeking!

Tahiti Beach Homework

Hi there friends,
Today I have a couple of things to share that were homework assignments. I know right??? I'm supposed to be on vacation from homework, but a friend of mine is teaching a scrapbooking/card making class locally & since she only had a few students, I thought I'd sign up to support her. But if I'd known there'd be homework....:( ---> JK! anyhoo, here are the assignments & what I did to *hopefully* get an A+ :)

Homework #1:
We created an easel card in class. We had to take it home & decorate it.
For Bonus points, I made my own embellies :)

Homework #2:
She gave us a scrap piece of chipboard (smaller than 8 1/2x 11) and we had to make something with it. So I made a mini-album.
Here's the front:

Slide the belly band off & here's the cover:
open the double flaps & here's the innies:

And... lift that middle panel & there's another one underneath:
This was super easy to make! I just took my scrap piece of chipboard & cut it into 3 equal pieces (measuring 4" x 5 1/2" each) then I cut 1 of them in half to create the double panels. I laid them out just like you see in the pic above & added tape to secure the edges to each other. Then I covered them with this fab Tahiti Beach DP (DCWV) & folded it up! Easy peasy! The belly band holds it all in place :)

Thanks so much for peeking today! I've got loads to do today so...
Gotta Go!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop-June

Hi friends,
Today, I'm participating in
The call this month is for COLOR! I thought I'd share my newest, fav color---> KRAFT! I never thought of Kraft as a color until I made THIS PROJECT for a previous PTI Blog Hop & fell in love with Kraft & Black. So today, I'm sharing some of my fav color combos with Kraft.

Here are the projects I'll be sharing with you:
An all-in-one favor box and matching card.

First, the all-in-one favor box:
I'll share each color combo I've used to decorate the box.

Kraft, Black, & Raspberry Fizz:

Kraft, Black, & Simply Chartreuse

Kraft, Black, & Aqua Mist:

and Kraft, Black, & Berry Sorbet:

I used my most fav PTI stamp--->In Bloom, for each panel & simply stamped in Black. Although you probably can't tell, I stamped the leaf duo from this set in versamark on the Kraft CS.
The bloom on top of the box is a Betsy Beauty (as I like to call them :)
I used all 4 colors to coordinate with each color of the box.

For my card, I focused on Kraft, Black, & Berry Sorbet:
I embossed the Kraft CS with the In Bloom IP & made a Betsy Beauty in Berry Sorbet & added a paper rose on top. A few more touches & the card was done!

Additional Deets:
I used this fab sketch for my card:
and to make the awesome & easy all-in-one favor box, check out this week's tut on SCS (after the hop, of course :)

Kraft is a great color that plays well with others! Hope I've inspired you to Kraft away!
Thanks for peeking & for your comments :)
Have a great hop!

DT- For the Family Scrapbook Layout

Hi friends,
Today, I'm sharing a layout I made for pictures that I'm very excited about. A friend of mine is a photographer who takes amazing pics & I asked if she would take some pics of my family. These are professional pics, that are not *exactly* posed. You know the ones that are less stuffy/formal looking & more... us just being us (minus the boys wailing on each other, Dad giving them the "Dad" look, and me screeching at them to knock it off! :)

Anyhoo, here's the layout for a couple of those pics:
Because I'm the only girl in the house, I had to make a layout that would be masculine, but have those pretty, girly details too without being way girly. I think I did just that :)

Of course to accomplish such a feat, I turned to the beautiful Windsor Collection by SEI. I used 3 papers from this collection for my layout. I used the Home Accents cart to cut out the title on my Cricut & that's popped with micro pop dots. I kept the embellishments simple. To create the center embellishment, I punched out circles from the paper & crumbled them up & just layered them---> so simple, but it created a perfect -not too girly- embellishment.  I pulled the gold color from the gold foil found all throughout the papers.
Here are a couple of closer peeks at it.
top:

bottom:
It is matted & ready for a 5x7 & 3x3 pic. The 3x3 pic will be of us all hands in. :)

I used this great sketch from Sketchy Thursdays (yes, even when I create layouts, I sketch :)
Thanks so much for peeking!
Be sure to stop by the YMH store to get your hands on the SEI collection used for this project. This is one collection you will not be dissapointed with!

Bikini Honey

Hi friends,
We're planning to move soon, so I'm busy running around from house to house :( so it's a quickie post today.
Here's my card:

It's an easel style card :) I used Mudd Puddles for the sand, & punched a border in sand-looking paper. I embossed the blue paper with the d'vine swirls folder to create the look of waves. I went over those with Stickles. I cut the flip flops out of the DP & the sandcastle from the extra piece of the border. The stamp is Bikini Honey from CC Designs- colored with Copics.

Here's a closer peek at the sand border, waves, & mudd puddles.
This card meets more than one challenge & it actually meets more than I've ever done before! whaaaaaaaat!!!

Mini Me Princess

Howdy friends,
Today, I'm sharing a card featuring a very special mini-me. This one is called Tilda with apple & of course, like all the other Maggies, I'm so smitten with her :)
Here's my card:
Every Halloween, I dress up for our school parade. I have the Snow White costume & wore it one year. Well, as soon as the kinder kids saw me, their little eyes lit up & they flew over to me & gave me loads of hugs! It was pretty funny & very sweet. Hee! Hee! So, I guess anytime Disneyland needs a Snow White substitute, I'm their girl! (I'm kid approved ;)

Mini me is colored with Copics. I added stickles to all the white parts & 3D Crystal lacquer to the apple & her shoes.

This card qualifies for some challenges- yes more than my usual one! whaaaat!?
Paper Sundaes- Princess (My Disney Princess)
Just Magnolia- In the Garden (flowers)

Paper Crafts Mag Card Swap

Hello there friends,
Today I'm sharing the cards I swapped this weekend at the Creating Keepsakes Convention (CKC Riverside). I get asked about what to expect when going to CKC, so I'll give you the deets. This class (Paper Crafts Card Swap), consists of 2 parts: the card swapping & a card making class. In the card making part you learn a few techniques & pointers taught by the Paper Crafts Pro- which this year, was Teri Anderson.
She's the most mellow person I think I've ever met! You make 4 cards designed by the Pro & you get all the supplies to make them.

So how 'bout I give you a peek at the cards I swapped:
(click on any pic to enlarge)

and this one made my Teri:

At CKC Riverside, it wasn't nearly as packed as it was when it held in Pasadena. Not as many vendors either so no, I'm afraid I didn't help the economy much :( but I did help the economy at ebay cuz I bought several Cricut carts at a steal! :)

Thanks for peeking today! Have a great Monday :)
