Gift Certificate Card Tutorial

Hi friends,
I planned to post this much sooner, but life had different plans with my plans- know what I mean! Today's project is easy-peasy. If you can make a paper airplane, you can so rock this! Well, let's get started...

You'll need a sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper.

NOTE: the best paper to use with this part is patterned paper, designer paper, & your cheapie cardstock. I don't recommend thicker cardstock (like SU or PTI) because it becomes hard to work with and too bulky. So if you have that cheaper stuff that you used to use- before you realized there was a difference in cardstock- cheapie is perfect for this, dust it off & bust it out!

Fold it the long way (hot dog fold, as my kiddos call it)

Open it up and fold one corner to the middle fold line (like making paper airplanes)

Do the same thing to the other corner so it looks like this:

Fold it in half the long way so that it looks like this:

Now here is where it goes from a paper airplane to our card. Take the left corner edge and bring it across to meet the bottom right corner.
Next, you'll need two pieces of cardstock (You can bring back your good cardstock for this part).Card base (pink): 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 - -> Fold in half to make your card
panel (cream): 3 1/2 x 3 1/2

You can play with these measurem
ents depending on how much of the background paper you want to show.

Next, glue the back of the (pink) base card to the background paper like this (centered) and then put the panel on top of the pink card base.

Next, tuck the flap under the pink card front to close the card.
Here's your finished card! (you can glue the side edge of the card shut if you want)

Here's the pocket where your gift certificate, movie tickets, letter, or anything else gets tucked into.
Lift the card to write your message

and here's the finished card with some simple embellishments. After I took the pictures I went back and added sprinkles to my cupcake- to finish it off. Yes, it absolutely fits in a standard card size A2 envelope.

I hope you give it a try! I would luuuuuv to hear what you think, not just about the project, but for the tutorial as well. This is my first tutorial so I would love your feedback to know what worked & how I could improve future tutorials. I really love video tutorials- since I'm a total visual learner. But which do you prefer? Video or photo tutorial. Let me know, won't ya!

Thanks so much for peeking today! I'm off to take my boys to Uncle Ronald- McDonald that is!--Gotta go!
