PTI Challenges

Hello friends,
I've created a card for today's PTI Challenge- well, there's really 2 challenges.
One: a sketch Challenge:

Two: a Color Palette Challenge (depending on your username.) Mine is this:
When I saw "my colors" I was horrified. I thought to myself, "Oh, why can't my name be something not h-m!" But it turns out everything is: My username, my first name, my last name --->everything. I couldn't escape it! But I couldn't pass up the chance to try to win this prize:
Ohhhh, with $100, I could buy everything, most everything, A LOT on my wish list! So here's my card:

I clear embossed the flower image & did the emboss resist technique to "pop" the image.
Here's a closer peek:

If you follow PTI, you know they're all about keeping it simple- something I don't do very well. I wanted to leave this card alone, but I didn't know how/where to add white & the large border of Terra Cotta Tile was buggin' me :( so I faux-stitched around the space. Makes me feel better, but maybe it's not PTI simple anymore :( Oh well, good luck to everyone participating! Thanks for peeking :)

(All supplies used are PTI unless otherwise noted)
Stamp: Life
Cardstock Layers: 1) Ripe Avocado 2)Terra Cotta Tile 3)Raspberry Fizz 4) Orange Zest 5) Terra Cotta Tile Luxe Satin Ribbon
Ink: Terra Cotta Tile, Raspberry Fizz, Fresh Snow, Versamark
Other: Raspberry Fizz button, white twine, Signo gel pen, Martha Stewart Border Punch

For Mary & Julie

Hi friends,
Today I wanted to share something with you. My blog pal, Mary, has THIS POST on her blog about her niece, Julie, who passed away at 31 years of age from cervical cancer. As some of you may know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 7 years old, so this is a cause that is very close to my heart. If you would please, take a moment  & leave a comment on her blog. For every comment received during the month of February, Mary will donate $1 to the American Cancer Society. This card is in memory of Julie and the many other women who have fought, or are fighting cancer.
It's an easel style card. I used turquoise foil paper because turquoise is the awareness color for cervical cancer. I used parts of the Sizzix Scrap Pink Kit (texture plate & ribbon sizzlits die) to create the card. The butterfly is the stopper.
Here's the card fully opened:

Thanks so much for helping & please, please, please stop by Mary's blog & leave a comment. Thank you :)

Love Struck: Box

Hi friends,
I've got one last easy-peasy project I've created with the Love Struck Cricut Cart. I think after this project I will be retiring this cart- for a while. I have loads of other carts that I've totally neglected since I received this one. Last week I made a tree trunk goodie holder with this box---> HERE. But today, I wanted to show you just the box as... a box :) Here's what I made:

The larger box was cut "fit to page" which came out to 9" The smaller box was cut at 4" -I think :(

Here's the bigger box:
I cut out Kiss at 2" & popped with dimensionals. I added chocolate kisses. Easy peasy.

The smaller box:
Cute on both sides :) I didn't have any conversation hearts so just imagine them in there, OK? I did add a cellophane baggie so it's ready to be filled. After cutting it, I ran it through my Cuttlebug Embossing folder. I added some Prima flowers & pearl. These little ones would be perfect for classroom gifts for students. The boxes are in one piece, easy to mass produce, & are easy to assemble.

Good bye Love Struck (for now). Thank you so much for peekin' today!
Gotta go!

Titanic PG-13

Howdy friends,
Today, I have a card I created for this week's Cinema Saturday Challenge: Add some Silver and Blue

As soon as I saw the challenge, I knew what I was going to do :)

WARNING: Some of the material you will be viewing may not be suitable for younger audiences. Parental discretion is advised.

Ready to see? OK, if the kiddos are around, you may want to shoo them away for a minute. On 3..
THREE...

TWO...

ONE...

Here it is:
I added the banner across to keep the ol' blog PG/PG-13. ;)

If you've seen this movie, then you know which part inspired me. I think I like the idea of being sketched---> like the one Jack did of Rose. Not now, ewwww!!! But my back "before the kids demolished it" body! I had a 10 pounder & an 8 pounder--- the damage was done!

Yes, this is a shape card! I created a pattern & went from there.
I created the heart by punching out a heart shape. I added 3 layers of 3D Crystal Lacquer. Once dry, I colored in between layer 2 & 3 with Copic marker B29 & also colored over the last layer so it would look like the one Rose had in Titanic. I used my Krylon silver marker around the edges & added silver beads to create the necklace. The sentiment comes from one of the lines from the theme song "My heart will go on."

Thanks for peekin'! (No pun intended :)
Gotta Go!

Why I should use the Stamp-a-majig

Hey there friends,
I made this card:

loads of layers :)

using last week's MOJO 123 round card sketch:
I used things I've had for a long time & haven't used (the patterned paper, cardstock, & die cuts). It does feel good to actually use these things & it hurts less & less the more I do it ;) Ok, so everything was great until I stamped my sentiment. See the "dear" all out of place? Ughhh! This would not have happened if I took the 1 extra minute to use the Stamp-a-majig! Now, I'm going to have to re-do it :( So kiddos, today's lesson is don't be lazy, like me. Do it right, or do it again. :(
Thanks for peeking! I'm off to try to salvage this card ---> insert tears here :(
BTW: Here's a 50% coupon for Uncle Mike's I was sent. It's good :)

Blog Candy Goes To...

Thank you so much for your kind comments & for your interest in my blog candy :) Hello Kitty is on a date (yes, on a Monday :) and her lovely assistant has the night off, so I went with Random.org. The blog candy goes to:

Paige!

I wish I had something for everyone :( this was so hard to do even with Random.org. I guess it's that teacher side of me that wants everyone to have something & not have anyone be left out, but I'll have more (LOTS more) on my blogoversary in April. Paige, email me your deets & I'll be sending it out to ya. Thank you everyone!

50,000 Hits Blog Candy!!!

Scroll down for any new posts :)

Hey friends!
Stop the Madness!!! Sometime today, my blog counter hit 50,000 hits! That's just incredible & I can hardly believe it. I was planning on offering some blog candy for my 1 year blogoversary (in April). But I couldn't wait. I mean 50,000 hits is a big deal, right? So, I have some goodies to offer as a THANK YOU for visiting my blog, for taking the time to leave comments, or dropping me an email to say you like the ol' blog and the projects I share. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I also want to especially thank the Dreamers who have always been so kind and generous with the luv! And to my newest friends, the Glitterbees, a group of super talented ladies I enjoy being a part of. Thank you everyone! So here's what I'm offering as a token of my appreciation:

(3) full size mailboxes from the Love Struck cart so you can make your own, beautiful creations. They will come scored so all you need to do is fold, adhere, & embellish.

Hmmm, speaking of embellishing, it would be nice to decorate your mailboxes with pretty papers, so you'll also get...
a full stack of "Love Notes" Designer Papers. It's an 8" x 8" pad with 48 double-sided sheets. 8 sheets of 6 designs. I LUUUUUUUV this paper. Yes, I've been hoarding it (hee! hee!) but now you realize I've got luv for ya if I'm willing to part with it!

You'll have lots of paper left over which you can use for making cards. But, you're going to need...
A card pack. It has 25 pre-scored card bases & envelopes.

But... you can't make plain ol' cards right? So, you'll need...
some cute images to add to them. You'll get 3 of each design: (3) Rosalie with Roses, (3) Lily Valentine Fairy ,and (3) Tilda with Rose. They're all stamped on PTI Stampers Select White CS with Memento Tuxedo Black---> ready for Copics or your fav color medium :)

But wait! You just can't make a card without pretty...
ribbon! This is 25 yards of satin edge ribbon. Yes! 25 YARDS, not feet. That will last you for a loooong time.

Group picture:

So are ya interested? If you are, all you need to do is leave a comment on THIS post. Let me know if there's something you'd like to see me feature or make a tutorial of---> requests! I already have plans to make all my current tutorials into video tutorials. Yep, I bought a video recorder so I'm ready to go! No, you do not need to be a follower to play. I'm tickled beyond words that people actually want to follow my blog- seriously! But I want you to follow because YOU want to, not because there's blog candy involved! I know there are many of you that subscribe through email or google reader so I want to give you the chance to play too. If this is you, just email me & let me know you want to play & I'll add you to the play group. 'nuff said I think :) Soooo, I'll leave this open & at the top of my blog until Monday, February 1st, 8 p.m. PST. Play nicely with others, so just 1 comment per person please. Hello Kitty (or her beautiful assistant)
will pick a name at random.  If it isn't you this time, don't worry, I have more goodies to share at my blogoversary. Wait till you see what surprises I have in store for ya! Heee! Heeee! Heee! Oh, BTW, this is not my kitty, but isn't it just the cutest thing evah! My brother thinks this qualifies for animal cruelty! Yeah, he's not a fan ;)
Thanks for peeking!
