HB 15

Hello friends,
My grammy asked me to make a birthday card for a boy she used to take care of.
Here it is:

 I was originally inspired by the sketch (which is below). The circle element reminded me of a steering wheel and that reminded me of driving which reminded me of the license plate dienamics from MFT which was *perfect* since it was an MFT sketch. See- it's the circle of life that Simba was talking about ;) I personalized the plate with his age (15) and in the corners I wrote his birth month and this year (2013).

 I stamped tread marks at the bottom which is an unmounted SU wheel called Making Tracks and the sentiment is from my fav birthday set called Birthday Sentiments from MFT.

Hooray for Scrubs

Hi friends,
A friend asked me to make a few invitations for her nephew's graduation party.
Here it is:
 (sorry the color is way off from IRL :( - it's Certainly Celery)

(I blocked out the name to protect the graduate) but quite simply it's a scrub with a stethoscope around the neck *Ü* I used the Everyday Paper Dolls Cricut cart to cut out the stethoscope & layered circle punches for added details.

 (Blocked out the party deets- they don't want party crashers ;)  I typed out the deets on Word & printed them out.

simple but cute, me thinks *Ü* I made 15 total. I accidently broke my photo lamp bulb so that's why the colors on my pics are a bit wonky :(

Happy Retirement

Hi friends,
This card is going to my old previous principal who is retiring.
Here it is:

 I dusted off the brayer & brayered the background a la Zindorf. The image is from an exquisite set called Landscape Silhouettes from Sweet n' Sassy Stamps. It is a *perfect* set for brayering & the all the images are wonderful! I had so much fun brayering, I have to play with this set some more *Ü*

 That palm tree is a stamp I've had for ages from Anna Griffin. The sentiment on the front & inside of the card is called Congrats from SU.

I am a suuuper beginner when it comes to brayering since I think this is only the second time that I have brayered in my life! Once I watched Michelle's Zindorf's video, I felt more confident to give it a go and I luv it! I only wish I could have taken one of her classes in person :(

Give 'em the boot

Hi ya friends,
Today, I've got a little somethin' for Father's Day I'm giving the hubby.
Here it is:

No, I didn't become a tanner boot maker during my summer vacation! Hehehe- that boot is all paper! *Ü* Next to it, is the card that's going for the ride.

Here are the deets and a closer peek.
First is the cowboy boot:

 This really does look like leather IRL! It is an SVG file from svgcuts.com called Happy Trails. The boot measures almost 8 inches tall & has room for a few treats or a gift card. I embossed the cardstock with T!m's London Icons embossing folder and inked the surface with the ink pad to define the image. The front (toe part) is also embossed with the Anna Griffin Acanthus folder. I really wanted a bold flourish & that was perfect! I added a little spur to the back. That was made with one of the country charms from MFT.

 Here's the other side:

 I decided to emboss this side with a different folder. I used another T!m folder called Compass Set. When I think cowboy, I think of taking an adventure wherever the wind takes you, so I thought the compass rose would be fitting.

 The image comes from the IB: Wild Wild West stamp set from MFT. I used Distress markers to color it. I used lots of MFT goodies: the instaframe dienamics, fishtail flags, country charms, and the barbed wire fence dienamics. "Dad" came from the Masculine Graphic T-shirt stamp set. The papers are from the Sasparilla collection from October Afternoon.

Tags of 2013-May

Hi friends,
I'm back to share my tag for this month.
Here's Tim's tag:

I didn't have the Mona Lisa stamp so I used this one I had. The technique this month was using his remnant rubs but I don't really like using rub-ons so I don't really have much. After digging through my stash, I came upon some fun stitches. Those are the ones that frame the tag. There are 3 different types of stitches on the tag: running, zig zag, & whip stitch. Then I used my Distress Stains in Wild Honey, Broken China, Bundled Sage, & Fired Brick. (Although Wild Honey & Fired Brick seemed to overtake the others :(

Here's a closer peek:

 I added a foliage flower to her hair, a strip of filmstrip, & last- the word band. Embracing imperfection is hard to do but something that I find myself having to do all the time. Mainly because I've learned to just let things go.
I really wish more of the blues & greens would have come across on my tag, but it is what it is & I'll embrace imperfection *Ü*

Sew Cute!

Hi friends,
I've been sick with the flu since my Summer vacation started- which is just my luck! Ahhh well, at least I didn't have to take any sick days since I was already at home...

Today, I have a card I started before I flu'ed out.
Here it is:

 It was love at first sight with this little PI! Finally, I get a chance to play with her. She's Cute as a Button from MFT. I paper pieced her little clothes & even the flower in her hair.

She's colored with Copics. Barbara Anders created a really fantastic tutorial on paper piecing. Mine is pretty basic. The one thing I added was shading to the clothes with my W3 Copic marker (tip from the tute) and wow! did that give it a boost! I added some Glossy Accents to her shoes & the jar. Then I added some little pearls to her little flowers & I even gave her some pearl earrings *Ü* I used the Fishtail Flags Dienamics for the strip that goes across & embossed it with the CB Ruler border. The buttons are from the Button Border Dienamics. (Luv it!) The papers are from the He Said, She Said collection from Teresa Collins.

I'm feeling so much better after taking my Grammy's special ginger tea. I seriously should bottle it & be a gazillionaire!!! Then I could buy aaaaaaaallll the craft stuff my heart desired *Ü*  (The hubby argues I already do!  -_-   (smh---> shaking my head, shaking my head...)

May PTI Blog Hop

Hello friends,
Today, I'm participating in this month's:

The challenge was to chose a color/bouquet builder pic & create floral bouquet creation inspired by it.
Here's the color scheme I chose:

 Here's my card:

I pulled out the Friendship Jars: Spring Fillers bouquet & colored it with Copics. I used the bow from the Friendship Jars: Summer Fillers & popped it on top.

Here's a closer peek:

 The background layer is embossed in the Foulard Anna Griffin folder. Then I framed it with my Viva pen & sprinkled a few matching sequins.

It was really hard to choose just one, but I liked the fun, bright colors of this bouquet builder. I definitely will be using some of the others builders for future cards since one thing I struggle with are fresh color combos. Now I have lots to choose from *Ü*
