Little Mermaid Inspired

Hi friends,
Recently, I attended the stage production of The Little Mermaid and it was absolutely magical! I was like a little girl totally entranced with the production, sets, dance numbers and of course--- the music! So when I pulled out the Mermaid For You stamp set from Lawn Fawn, I knew I had to create my own underwater seascape featuring Ariel.
Here's my card:
I used the Mermaid for You and Fintastic Friends stamp sets and coordinating dies (Lawn Fawn).  I colored all of the images with the no-line watercoloring technique using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.
I used my Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay pen on the coral and on the mermaid's tail.
The background was created with the Brusho powders in Leaf Green and Turquoise.

I added a bit of Stickles for even more sparkle, sprinkled some sequins, and added a few Dew Drops for bubbles.

Here's a peek of the innie:
I really love how this card sparkles and shines in person *Ü*
 Tanks for stopping by today.
Have a great weekend and Happy 4th of July to those here in the states! Be safe!

Hellooo! When Pigs Fly Slider card

Hi friends,
Today I'm going to be earning my second badge for Camp Create at My Favorite Things.
The challenge is: Creating a slider card!
Well, this is right up my alley because I luuuv interactive cards and anything that shakes or moves or has money in it *Ü*

Here's my card:
Not only is this a slider card, but it's also a shaped card *Ü* (I'm thinking extra brownie points, right?!) I used the Cloud Stax Dienamics (My Favorite Things) to create the cloud-shaped card base. Then, I used the Hog Heaven Stamp set and coordinating dies (MFT). It is ABSOLUTELY A-DOR-A-BLE! I stamped it with Antique Linen Distress Ink on Ranger Watercolor paper to do the no-line watercoloring technique. I used Distress markers in Spun Sugar and Antique Linen. I used a little Worn Lipstick Distress marker on the bow.
I die cut the Hello There dies (MFT) from Silver glitter Deco Sheets (Tim Holtz) and cut a couple extra "o's". The sentiment comes from the Delicate Pretty Poppies stamp set (MFT). Finally, I scattered some silver star confetti and used my ice white Viva Decor pen to add the dots around the cloud. The little wings got a generous coating of Clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle pen.

Here are a couple more pics of the sweet little pig gliding through the cloud

 and here's the innie:
The sentiment is also from Hog Heaven. The finished card measures 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" so it fits perfectly in a standard A2 envelope.

You will notice that the next few cards will all be "Thank You" cards because I have lots of sweet friends who were wonderfully kind for my birthday *Ü*

Thank YOU sow much for stopping by today!
I'm off to work on badge number 3!

Karli

¡Feliz Cumpleaños!

Hi friends,
I have a birthday card to share with ya today. I was all ready to film the process of this card which focuses on the no-line Copic coloring technique. I was in about 5 minutes, when my battery died :(
*Rookie Rule #1: Make sure the battery is fully charged before recording the video...D'oh!

Here it is:
This cutie is Piñata Marci (La La Land Crafts) colored with the No-line copic coloring technique. After I was done coloring her, I masked her and the piñata & ink blended the background with Distress Inks (Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn) Then I went over a few parts with my Prismacolor Pencils to add some details. Last, I added a few crystal sequins and crystal confetti. I added some Stickles to the center of the piñata, skirt, and falling candy.

Here's a peek of the innie:
The fun streamers are from the Hooray stamp set (Papertrey Ink.)

That's it for today.
Have a fun-filled week!

You're my type of chick

Hi again friends,
Today I have an Easter/Spring card to share.
Here it is:
I used the My Basket of Eggs Pure Innocence stamp (My Favorite Things) for the image. I colored her with the no-line coloring Copic technique which I enjoy, but is challenging.

Here's a closer peek:
I masked her with Eclipse masking paper and then ink blended the background with Distress inks. I used a few of the iridescent sequin from the Sweet Pea mix (Pretty Pink Posh.)

Here's the innies:
The sentiment is from another PI set called One Sweet Chick.

I used this week's MFT Sketch #269

Thanks for popping in today!
Have a great *Ü*

Winter Wishes

Happy weekend friends,
I have a winter card to share today.
Here it is:
This cutie is from MFT PI: Warm Wishes. I colored her with Copics using the no-line coloring technique. I decided to take some creative liberties and give her some long hair. *Ü*

Here's a closer peek at her:
The fur trim on her clothes got a coating of Sparkly Fluff which is the *perfect* addition for a more realistic feel. The fluff has bits of glitter & tinsel so it's great for this *Ü* You just can't help touching it *Ü*

The background is stamped with the Tim Holtz Holiday Knits Stamp set. The front panel was ink blended with Distress Inks. I took a dot stencil and added embossing paste to give it the look of snow falling. I used the MFT Cross Stitch Stax and the Stitched Snowdrifts Dienamics. To the snow, I added some Martha Stewart Snow Glitter. Then I added a few sparkling clear sequins from PPP.

Here's a peek at the innies:
I stamped the sentiment in pink to coordinate with her pink outfit. It's from the Seasonal Sentiments stamp set by MFT.

I used this week's MFT sketch #257:

How are you coming along with your Holiday cards? I'm a busy little elf because I really want to send as many as I can make this year!

Thanks so much for taking a peek about the blog today!
Have a great day!

MFT Summer School: Secondary Colors

Hi ya friends,
I'm back with another lesson from My Favorite Things Summer School.
This is Lesson 9- Color Theory: Secondary Colors
Def: Secondary Colors are the direct counterparts of the primary colors — red, yellow, and blue. Orange (a combination of red and yellow), green (a combination of blue and yellow), and purple (a combination of red and blue) are the secondary colors. You can find them in between their primary colors on the color wheel.

So using a combination of orange, green and purple, I bring you my card:
I die-cut the cute camera dies several times on white cardstock to create the photo-themed background. I die-cut the Instaframe and blended in the colors randomly behind this little PI girl. When I saw this little girl, it totally reminded me of when some kids take their school picture. They stand really rigid, with their arms at their sides, and a forced smile or none at all! *Ü* Lol! So that's what she looked like to me, which is why I had to add "smile" as the sentiment *Ü*

Here's another peek:
I die-cut another little camera in the peachy color and added a little heart to the opening.

A closer peek:
She's colored with the no-line Copic coloring technique.

I used this week's MFT sketch:
and as well as the colors for the color challenge #25:
The color palette worked great for this lesson! Yay!

That's it for this lesson on secondary colors.
Thanks so much for taking a peek today.
Until next time...have a great weekend!

Tu-Tu Cute and Summer School

Hello there, friends...
I'm back today to share a couple of cards for My Favorite Things Summer School Session 2! Yay!
For this lesson, the focus was on the the theory of Gallon/Quart/Pint. Basically, it involves using a tricolor scheme which can make most any card work when applying a main color, a little less of another color, and a smaller dose of a final third color.

I have been wanting to inky up this totally a-do-ra-ble little PI, called Tu Tu Cute *Ü* Lives up to the name, right?! Ok, on to the deets...
In my mind, pink was the gallon, white was the quart, and black was the pint. I colored her with the Copic no-line coloring technique & die-cut her with the coordinating die. Her tu-tu is some Prima ribbon from my stash. *Ü* I added the little paper bow to her hair.

Here's a closer peek:

 Here are the simple innies:

Well, after thinking about it I wasn't sure the rule was totally obvious (WAS there more pink than white???) hmmm...so...I decided to make another, more definitive card. I needed another "Thank You" card so off to crafty work I went!

Here's my second card:
I chose one of my fave color combos (gray, white, yellow.) For this card it goes: Gray-Gallon, White-Quart, Yellow-Pint. I die-cut the fanfare border from Basic Gray cs so that the background wouldn't be so plain. The feathers were die-cut from white glitter paper so they're sparkly! Then I took the scribbles dies & die-cut them out of yellow cs. Last, I white heat embossed the sentiment on Vellum cs.

Here's another peek: hope you can see the sparkle on the feathers.

Here are the innies:

Oh, I almost forgot! I used this week's MFT sketch for my ballerina card.

Thanks so much for twirling with me all the way to the end! *Ü*
Have a wonderful day!

No Bulk Shaker Card VIDEO!

Hi friends,
No, your eyes are not deceiving you! I have a video tute for you today *Ü*
It has been ages since I made a video tute, but I've had a few people ask me about creating a "not so bulky" shaker card like I did on this card:
So, today I'll be showing you how.
Here's the card we'll be making:
I used baseball card sleeves I had purchased for making a pocket letter for my friend. Well since I had so many left over, I asked myself what I could do with these sleeves---and the no bulk shaker card was born!

DISCLAIMER: The camera I normally use broke, so I used my old iphone 4. Plus, I'm totally rusty at making videos & totally forgot how to do it!...ugh. :(  Sooo...please be kind and well, I hope you enjoy! Lol *Ü*

You can watch it on YouTube HERE or below.
Action:

Here's one more pic of the projects featured: both cards are A2: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Thanks so much for peeking!

Hello, Friend

Happy Sunday, friends!
I'm sharing a card today using a stamp I've had for ages & haven't inked up :(
Here it is:
I used the no line Copic coloring technique and OMG!!! it was so hard to color her hair! This image is called Cheeky Beach from The Greeting Farm and it's super adorbs, but that hair is the stuff of coloring nightmares! Anyhoo, I'm still very much a newbie and it proves I have a loooong way to go...lol.

Here's a peek of the innies:

I used this week's great sketch from Mojo Monday:

That's it for now.

Happy Birthday to June?

Hi again crafty friends,
My friend, June, is a June baby! So thanks to her Mama, it's easy to remember "June's birthday is in June!" I just got this super cute stamp set from Mama Elephant that I was so excited to get inky *Ü*

Here's the card:
I luuuuuuv this little astrology set from Mama Elephant called Cosmic Stars! I used the cute little twins image which corresponds with Gemini *Ü* I colored them with Copics using the No-Line coloring technique.

Here's another peek:
SQUEAL!*Ü* They are just too cuuuute!!!

BUT, I came across a teensy problem!?!? I checked to see what day in June, June's birthday is and it's June 22...which doesn't make her a Gemini...she's a CANCER! D'oh!

That's ok, you know me, and there are NO mistakes in card-making. This little snafu just gave me another opportunity to play with this fun, fun, fun stamp set again *Ü*

HERE's June's card:
I colored in Mr. Crab Cancer with the No-Line Copic technique again. This time I took the opportunity to make a shaker for the front panel. I used a left-over pocket that I cut away from the baseball card sleeve from the pocket letter I created a while back. It was much easier to create the shaker this way *Ü* and it's not bulky.

Here's another peek:
ETA: I will be sharing a tute showing how to make this type of shaker later this week! *Ü*
and of the innies:
Yup, that's the Wonky Stitches die back! Hehehe... I just luv this die... *Ü*

I used this Mojo Monday sketch:
Thanks so much for hanging in there for this long post! So what's a girl to do with a Gemini card? Well...it is MY birthday today so maybe I'll give it to myself! Lol...

I'll play along with the following challenges:
Aud Sentiments: #133 BINGO- (diagonal) Markers + rubber stamp + die cut
7 Kids College Fund: #127 In stitches (faux for me)
Sweet Stamps: #225 Anything Goes
Craft your Passion: #265 Anything Goes

That's it for now...go have some cake & ice cream on me! Birthday calories don't count- wink ;)
