Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
This is a tender, pulls at your heartstrings story about growing up & growing older. The first time I read this book was during my first week of teaching. I picked out a book from the classroom library to read to my second graders. I looked at the cover & thought "Ok, this looks interesting. It'll probably make a good read-aloud book" and I started reading it to them. Well, if you've read this book you might guess what happened next! So I was reading the book to my students & all was well until I got a little bit past the middle. Then it all fell apart----> more like, I fell apart! I started weeping & crying IN FRONT OF THE KIDS while reading the book!!! I was able to finish reading it, but poor kids were asking me "Mrs. Miranda, are you OK? Don't be sad. Do you want me to get you a Kleenex?" Oh my gosh, not my best teaching moment! But that day I learned one valuable lesson: always PREVIEW a book before I read it aloud to them! LOL!

Phew!  Before your fingers get fiesty, remember to read THE RULES---> HERE. Leave your comment(s) on this post for Blog Candy #2.  You can leave a comment about whatever you'd like but I do have a question, if you'd like to answer it. ---> What is a life lesson you've learned that you'd like to pass on to others?
Good Luck friends!

Well, I'm an elementary school counselor. We have started our 'can't wait to do' state assessment this week. Since I'm the BTC (Building Test Coordinator, I always make a candy treat for the teachers. From Splitcoast I found the candy pencils. Love them! I ended up at your blog for inspiration on my take of the pencils.

ps, haven't posted a pic yet, too busy passing out MAP tests, but I will!

Ooops, forgot contact info on first post!

  5. Hmmmm that's a hard one! Not that I haven't learned any but my mind at the moment is completely blank!! I guess just always watch what you say because words can never be taken back no matter how hard you try! I bought that book for my son for Christmas when he was younger. I boo hoo'd when I read it to him to! Great, great book! Hugs, Leanne

  13. A life lesson that I have learned and would like to pass on to others is to be kind to others. It is not hard, does not take a lot of time, and sometimes can change a life.

(Oh.. and I follow you through Google Reader!)

  14. Oh, this book always makes me cry, too! I was never able to read it out loud to my son without crying, seriously. Life lesson? Not sure if this qualifies, but my mom's one rule in life was the Golden Rule. She always said if people could just follow that, the world would be a better place.

Can't believe it's been two years for your blog! I must have signed up to be a follower very early on! Congratulations! ~Betsy Z. betsy0622 at yahoo dot com

  15. I love that book. Every time I read it, I cry which can be embarrassing when your are reading it to a group of children in the school library.

  16. You are too generous, but thanks for this chance to win! I fell in love with that book almost in the same way! I was volunteering in my daughter's preschool class and the teacher handed it to me to read aloud to the class for story time. I later told her she set me up, she knew I was in college to become a teacher. I bawled like a baby too! The darling children were getting me kleenex and others were patting me while I struggled to finish the book! LOL! That had to have been quite the sight! Needless to say, I stopped to buy that book on the way home that very day. Its truly a classic in our family and my daughter swears she remembers me breaking down in her classroom...she's in 6th grade now. Good times!

  17. Hmmmm...I have never heard of this book! Well, maybe I need to win it to read it, LOL!! I would have to say that the life lesson I have l learned and would like to pass on is that your elders REALLY DO know what they are talking about ;). Yeah, I'm a little stubborn when it comes to listening. Is it just me?

  18. You continue to amaze with your generosity!! A life lesson that I've learned that I'd like others to know is that you can't change the past, but you can ALWAYS improve on the future!

  24. OK, Karli! This is too weird! This book is the one I was commenting about on the last post! Amazing! And the candy just keeps getting sweeter! Thank you for the chance to share your goodies! The best life lesson I could share with anyone is The Golden Rule! It is hard with some folks you encounter along the way, but if you remember to treat everyone as you would like to be treated, the love always comes back around eventually! Have a blessed day, my friend!

  25. Happy blogversary! I just found you from your featured card on the Sweet Stop..It's so very nice! signed on to be a follower today :) My biggest life lesson & sometimes the hardest to make myself do is to stop myself when I am frustrated or angry & calm down before I say something that can never be taken back. Our words can be some of the sharpest weapons.

  26. I was at a ladies tea and heard this book read for the first time. Loved it! Life lesson: Always try your very best at what you do, that's all that's required, that's all you can do. We won't be perfect at everything but we can rest assured that we give whatever we do our best shot. Hope that makes sense. ;0) Thanks! joy4umetoo at hotmail dot com

  28. Thanks for a wonderful blog and for sharing. You have peeked my curiosity to read the book. I have to say that my biggest life lesson is....be kind and forgiving to everyone. Life's too short to dwell on negative things.

  29. HI This is the first time I've ever commented. Hope it goes through and I do it right. I got this book when I was pregnant with my first child, it made me cry of course in front of everyone at the shower. I now give it to every new mother I can. My kids are 15, 10 and 3 and they all still love the verse I'll love you forever...I say it to them all the time.

  30. There are so many life lessons to share that it's hard to choose just one. I'm a first year special education teacher (elementary level) and I absolutely love my job. A great life lesson that I have learned is the power of optimism, kindness, and encouragement. It can lead you to a fulfilling life and to make a difference in the lives of others. So glad to see a fellow teacher who enjoys crafting!

    The biggest lesson I have leant in life (so far) is not to be so quick to judge someone - we have no idea of their curcumstances and can judge so wrongly! Thank you for having me! {{{hugs}}}

  32. More sweet candy Karli! I have a similar story with this book. I was working in and infant/toddler respiratory unit (back in my nursing days), and I saw the book next to the crib of a little girl. So when I had some down time, I grabbed a rocking chair, the book and the little girl and read it to her. Oh my gosh, there I was crying over the book, I was so glad the parents didn't pop in for a visit at that time. We have this book at home and the kiddos love it, but I don't think they really understand the message yet. As far as life lessons, I try to live by the most basic one, treat others as you want to be treated.

  33. Such a sweet blog... so glad I found it. As for life lessons, "Be grateful for all things big and small." Even the moments of overwhelming emotion as they are reminders that we are still alive.
