Happy Easter Grammy!

Hi ya friends!
Happy Easter to those who celebrate it & Happy Spring (even if it isn't Spring in your part of the world!) 
Today I have a card I made for my Grammy. We're going over to her house today for ham (yuuuum!) & fixins. Can't wait! Plus, I'm on Spring break this week & it could not have come sooner! I need to recharge the batteries before the last stretch because after break we're super busy at school!
Here's Grammy's card:

Needless to say, this is not a card you can pop in the mail! Those poppies are very dimensional, but very sweet & pretty. They are the poppy builder dies from MFT. The back panel is vellum over Sweet Blush cardstock. The vellum is embossed with a brand spankin' new Anna Griffin embossing folder (SQUEAL! *Ü* ) It is called Poppy & do I really need to say it is breathtaking IRL? I must have more Anna folders in my collection! The leafy swirl is from Cheery Lynn. The paper is In Bloom from MME & the poppies were cut from Berry Sorbet cs.

I know that is one ginormous flower, but that's how Grammy & I like 'em! We're California girls at heart, but with the Texas flavor of "Go big or go home!"

PTI March Blog Hop

Hello friends,
 Today I'm sharing a little somethin' I created for this month's PTI Blog Hop. The challenge called for the use of sequins.
Here's my card:

Was this way out of my comfort zone! I used the jar from Friendship Jar Summer Fillers & stamped it on acetate. I added some sequins to the inside & adhered them with Stickles so they'd sparkle too *Ü* The sentiment is heat embossed in gold on vellum. That's from the Friends til the End set.

Here's a closer peek:

 

See that one gold sequin? That's what makes it one of a kind. The Stickles is still wet in the pic, but once it dried it created a really cool effect in the jar. I was being impatient & didn't want to wait to take the picture. The jar is popped up with clear foam.

This is my first time to use sequins, so I'm looking forward to seeing the creative ways they will be used today.

Happy Birthday, Jordan!

Hi friends,
Today is a bittersweet day for me. Jordan, my little one, is officially a teen today. I had so much fun with him when he was a baby- there were always grins & giggles when he was around! While I've been down in the dumps thinking about how fast he's grown, he couldn't be happier to FINALLY be a teenager. It's been a time he's eagerly anticipated because with 13 comes lots of things we've said "No" to before, now we say "Ugh...OK": PG-13 movies, sitting in the front seat of the car, & ordering from the adult menu at restaurants.

Well, here's the card I made for him:

I tried to keep it basic- not too much stuff going on. I used the Die-namics Jersey and stamp set. I used my circle punch to make the football jersey look a little more basketball-y since that's the sport he plays. I stamped his name in Wild Wasabi & his age in Baja Breeze then I added the little basketball letter stickers. I colored the trim with my copics.

We'll be taking him to eat at Stacked after school. He really likes that place so that's where we're headed.

Organization: Washi Tape

Hi friends,
Organizational tips continue with today's tip on how I store my few washi tapes.
CONFESSIONAL: I never use washi tape decoratively. Never. I only use it as a temporary adhesive or to hold things down. A couple of my favorite ways to use it is to 1) hold down my dies when I'm die cutting and 2) I place a bit on the ends of ribbon to hold them down when they're on a spool. It is absolutely the BEST for that *Ü*. That is why I don't have hundreds...probably.
Well, now that I have that off my chest I can continue with today's post.

Organization: Prismacolor Pencils

Hi friends,
Today, I'm sharing how I organize my Prisma pencils. I have looked high and low for something that would allow me easy access to all of the pencils but just hadn't found anything that worked for me--- until I went into my son's room! He had a crayon caddy that no longer held all the crayons it originally came with. So I permanently borrowed it for my Prismas & it was JUST what I was looking for *Ü*

I downloaded this color chart from a Prisma Forum & could not find it when I went back to look. It was created by "Scarleta" and I thought it was perfect.

Tags of 2013- March

Hi ya friends,
It totally slipped my mind that it was daylight savings time so I felt robbed of an hour today. Thankfully, I spent the weekend with T!m at the Stamp show in Carson. I did quite a bit of damage at the Ranger/Stamper's Anonymous booth... but I am a mere mortal around T!m's stamps, dies, & inks- oh my! I picked up a few Distress Stains, some stamp sets, & the new Distress paints. They all look so colorful & preeetty on my shelf. So, I got to work on this month's tag and let me tell ya I had SO much fun with it!
     When I saw the tinsel ribbon technique, I was not too thrilled about it & I hesitantly did it- but the results were sooooo cool! I should know by now to trust T!m, right?
Here's my tag:

 I didn't have his bunny die, but I did have a Cheery Lynn one so that's the one I used. I also didn't have his grass die, but I have an old Sizzix one that did the trick. I also substituted the Labels Nine die & the Ribbon Banners.
Here's a closer peek at the tinsel ribbon technique along with the painted floral pins:

Unfortunately, this picture does not do it justice. I used a combo of blue & green ink on the bunny. This is probably one of my favorite tags so far! It's fun, full of dimension, & just squeals "Spring is Here!"

Celebrating the Sweet Stop

This week, the peeps at the Sweet Stop Sketches are celebrating their 200th sketch! I had to play along since I luv their sketches & always am inspired to create with my style of more is more *Ü* They are definitely one of my go-to sketch blogs. Plus, they have been so kind in spotlighting some of my cards in the past *Ü*

Here's my card for the 200th sketch:

I used the Sew Nifty Die-namics set from MFT. I embossed the layer behind the dress form with 3 CB embossing borders: buttons, zig zag stitch, & ruler. The papers are from the Thrift Shop collection from October Afternoon.

 I added an embossed button (MS punch) to accent.

Shamrock on!

Hello there friends,
Hope you had a couple of lovely crafternoons this past weekend. Saturday I went with some friends to see Wicked! I luuv, luuv, luuuuuv this musical- I've seen it 3 times and each time it's still magical *Ü* I guess I had the Emerald City on the brain (and a super yummy cocktail called The Elphaba too ;) when I sat down to make this card:

That's a looootta green! The sentiment on the shirt was a stamp I picked up from the $1 bin at JoAnn's. I luuuuv all the "Keep Calm and ______" stuff! It's trendy, but I just can't get enough! Don't know why they tickle my fancy *Ü*  The layer behind the T-shirt is embossed with the CB Celtic Knot embossing folder. I also used the Picot Edge Nesties, the T-shirt die & the Notched Tag set both from MFT.

I used this week's MFT sketch:

I'm feeling a little more blue than green since I caught the flu bug :( hopefully I can Dayquil/Nyquil my way through the week and make it to the weekend! It's hard keeping up with almost 200 bouncy, flouncy freshman when you're not running at 100%! Sigh...
